Economics Tutoringfor Grades 9 to 12

Private 1-on-1 economics tutoring is one rate at every grade level, the same in 9th grade as in 12th grade. No contracts, no sign-up fee, and you pay after each lesson. Tell us the grade level and we will send a quote.

The hourly rate includes matching with a tutor who knows the student's course, a dedicated account manager, a written report after every lesson in the parent app and free tutor changes if the fit is not right.

Tutors work to the student's own course: high school Economics, Economics and Personal Finance, AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics, and IB Economics at SL and HL.

Lessons cover demand and supply, elasticity, market failure and government intervention, the goals of growth, low inflation and full employment, fiscal policy, the RBA and monetary policy, and international trade. Students also practise data analysis, short answers and extended responses.

Each lesson is one student and one tutor, live, on an interactive whiteboard where they can draw and annotate supply and demand or AD and AS diagrams together. The student keeps the same tutor each week, so the tutor knows which unit is coming up and how the next test or project will be graded.

The first change most parents notice is confidence: 98% of students report more confidence. Grades follow at the next school assessment, because every lesson is planned around the student's own course and task dates.

After a short quiz, an account manager calls to ask about the student's grade level, course, upcoming assessments and how they like to learn. The tutor is then chosen for that course and for personality fit, from the top 2% of applicants to Tutero.

In the first lesson the tutor works through the current unit, finds where points are being lost and sets goals for the semester. If the match is not right, a new tutor is free.

Tutors break a free-response question into steps the student can repeat under time: answer the question directly, define the terms, use the data, draw the graph, explain each link and finish with a conclusion. The student writes, the tutor scores it against the rubric, and the next attempt fixes one thing at a time.

Closer to the final or the AP exam, lessons move to past questions, timed multiple choice and short answer practice, and a review plan.
