What a tutor can do is hand the student evidence to decide with: how the Year 10 work in that subject is actually going, which topics are solid, and which ones fall over under assessment conditions. A student who has spent Year 10 working with a tutor in maths or English comes to that conversation with marks and a clear read on the subject instead of a guess about it.
