How Tutero helps Year 8 students
How Tutero helps Year 8 students
.avif)
Students are matched with a Year 8 tutor
We match on the subject a student needs most, then on personality and how they like to learn. One tutor can carry maths and English together, or a student can work with a specialist for a single subject.

Students learn in 1-on-1 online lessons
Lessons follow the Year 8 Australian Curriculum: the exponent laws, expanding and factorising linear expressions, Pythagoras' theorem, cells and organ systems, nominalisation and substantiating a claim with quotations.

Students improve their performance at school
Gaps close before they harden into a pattern, so a student walks into class able to start the question instead of waiting for help. Marks follow, and so does the willingness to put a hand up.

I cannot thank the tutors enough.
We had tutors for Chemistry and Maths Methods for our daughter in Grade 12. Both Luke and Francisco were fantastic and provided supportive assistance as well as increasing her confidence. I cannot thank them both enough.

I strongly recommend Tutero!
Not only was the process made really simple and engaging, but Tutero also provided me a personalised page where I can track my sessions, organise tutors in different subjects if need be and a record of the work I needed to follow up on. If you need a tutor, but don't want all the logistical stress involved with tracking one down, I strongly recommend Tutero!

Caring and considerate. Thank you!
They answered my enquiry on a weekend within half an hour which I did not expect. The others I contacted, replied the following week. My nephew is learning with Andy. The price is much more affordable my nephew has improved so much considering he has slight autism. Tutero, Joey and his team have proven very caring and considerate. Thank you Tutero.

Grades went from 61% ave to 85%.
My grades were poor in VCE Chemistry. I signed up with Tutero and I observed a 39% rise in my grades after our sessions. My grade for the prior 2 SACs had been 80% and I was probably going to drop the ball for Probability. I applied for another tutor who enabled me to keep my avg of 80% in the Probability SAC within 2 weeks prior.

Excellent tutoring
I have tried 3 tutoring providers before I came to Tutero. My son has been learning Maths and also Science with Tutero for 3 months, and I have been very impressed by the quality of tutors and the learning resources they provide to their students. I have been telling other parents at his school about the service and they too have joined and had a similar experience.

Mission Successful
Before i joined Tutero, My son used to be terrible in certain units of mathematics such as algebra fractions decimals and percentages, i noticed this so i got him a tutor and within a few sessions now he knows them like it's the back of his hand.

Very good service
Tutero has been excellent for my 11 year old. In lockdown we saw him having difficulties with Maths and also English and so I contacted Tutero and booked him into 1-on-1 private tutoring. We saw fantastic results after a few lessons and he was able to apply his learnings in the classroom. We are continuing tutoring and very happy with the service.

Fantastic tutors for Grade 12
My daughter is in Grade 12, and we have arranged tutors for Maths Methods and Chemistry. Both Francisco and Luke have been excellent. They have not only taken her through the class work she has been completing to explain the concepts she was struggling with to help her gain confidence but have also assisted in providing extra resources where required.

Why is Year 8 the year small gaps compound quietly?
Year 8 sits outside the national testing years and carries no certificate, so a student can drift for twelve months before a mark forces the issue. The content is not gentle. Under Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, Year 8 maths brings irrational numbers and the exponent laws, expanding and factorising linear expressions, solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities, rates and ratios, Pythagoras' theorem, and the conditions for congruent and similar triangles. English asks for embedded clauses, nominalisation and claims substantiated with quotations. Science moves into cells and organ systems, plate tectonics, the rock cycle, and the difference between a physical and a chemical change. A student who is guessing at any of this rarely volunteers it, because nothing at school makes them. A Tutero tutor finds the gap in the first few lessons, teaches the piece that is missing, then works forward alongside the class. Get a custom quote above and an account manager will call to talk through the match.

Year 8 maths under Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum runs from irrational numbers and the exponent laws (index laws) through terminating and recurring decimals, expanding and factorising linear expressions, solving and graphing linear equations, rates and ratios, circles and right prisms, Pythagoras' theorem, congruence and similarity, sampling, and probability with two-way tables and tree diagrams. Many students are solid on some of that and shaky on the rest. A Year 8 maths tutor works out which is which first, then teaches the missing piece rather than the whole list.
Yes. Some Year 8 students work with a single tutor across two or three subjects, others take a specialist for one. Year 8 English asks for embedded clauses, nominalisation, semicolons and paragraphs that back a claim with a quotation. Year 8 science moves through cells and organ systems, plate tectonics and the rock cycle, energy transfer, and telling a physical change from a chemical one. Humanities, geography and history are covered too. Tell the account manager which subject is causing the most trouble and the match starts there.
Year 8 carries no national test and no certificate, so a weak spot can go unmarked for a long stretch. That is the argument for starting here rather than later: there is room to go back and rebuild a topic properly instead of patching it the week before an assessment. The algebra, the reasoning and the writing built in Year 8 are still being used when a student reaches a senior certificate, whether that is the VCE, HSC, QCE, SACE, WACE or TCE. Students in Victoria and every other state work from what their own school is teaching.
Lessons start at A$65 per hour. There is no sign-up fee, no lock-in contract and no minimum booking: the invoice follows the lesson rather than preceding it. Some Year 8 students take an hour a week in one subject, others split their time across two, and that arrangement can change when the subject causing trouble changes. Pausing or switching tutors costs nothing. The pricing page sets out how billing works before you commit to anything.
An account manager. Send the quote form on this page with the year level and the subject, and an account manager calls within 24 hours to ask what has been happening at school, when assessments fall and what a good result would look like. They choose the tutor from that conversation and propose a lesson time that fits around sport and homework. If the first match is not right, say so and they will find another. Start with the quote form on this page.
