I cannot thank the tutors enough.

I cannot thank the tutors enough.

We had tutors for Chemistry and Maths Methods for our daughter in Grade 12. Both Luke and Francisco were fantastic and provided supportive assistance as well as increasing her confidence. I cannot thank them both enough.

I strongly recommend Tutero!

I strongly recommend Tutero!

Not only was the process made really simple and engaging, but Tutero also provided me a personalised page where I can track my sessions, organise tutors in different subjects if need be and a record of the work I needed to follow up on. If you need a tutor, but don't want all the logistical stress involved with tracking one down, I strongly recommend Tutero!

They answered my enquiry on a weekend within half an hour which I did not expect. The others I contacted, replied the following week. My nephew is learning with Andy. The price is much more affordable my nephew has improved so much considering he has slight autism. Tutero, Joey and his team have proven very caring and considerate. Thank you Tutero.

Grades went from 61% ave to 85%.

Grades went from 61% ave to 85%.

My grades were poor in VCE Chemistry. I signed up with Tutero and I observed a 39% rise in my grades after our sessions. My grade for the prior 2 SACs had been 80% and I was probably going to drop the ball for Probability. I applied for another tutor who enabled me to keep my avg of 80% in the Probability SAC within 2 weeks prior.

Excellent tutoring

I have tried 3 tutoring providers before I came to Tutero. My son has been learning Maths and also Science with Tutero for 3 months, and I have been very impressed by the quality of tutors and the learning resources they provide to their students. I have been telling other parents at his school about the service and they too have joined and had a similar experience.

Tutero has been excellent for my 11 year old. In lockdown we saw him having difficulties with Maths and also English and so I contacted Tutero and booked him into 1-on-1 private tutoring. We saw fantastic results after a few lessons and he was able to apply his learnings in the classroom. We are continuing tutoring and very happy with the service.

Fantastic tutors for Grade 12

Fantastic tutors for Grade 12

My daughter is in Grade 12, and we have arranged tutors for Maths Methods and Chemistry. Both Francisco and Luke have been excellent. They have not only taken her through the class work she has been completing to explain the concepts she was struggling with to help her gain confidence but have also assisted in providing extra resources where required.

Can one tutor cover every subject a Newcastle student needs?

Many families in Newcastle arrive with one subject in mind and end up talking about two. Maths is the usual starting point, from counting and times tables in primary to Stage 5 algebra and the senior courses. English is close behind, and it splits: a student working on reading fluency and a Year 11 student building an argument for English Advanced need different tutors, so they are matched differently. The sciences and the humanities tend to arrive in Years 11 and 12, when Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Business Studies or Modern History start carrying real weight, and languages sit alongside them. In every case the match is made on the course, not the postcode. Because lessons run online, a Newcastle student is not restricted to the tutors who happen to live in the Hunter, which widens the choice for the less common subjects and the harder senior courses. Start with the quote form on this page and an account manager will call to work out the subject and the fit.

How much is private tutoring in Newcastle?
plusminus

Tutoring starts at A$65 per hour. There is no sign-up fee, no joining cost and no contract, and nothing is charged in advance: the lesson happens, the tutor confirms it, and only then is the card billed. A Newcastle family can run one lesson a week, add a second subject for a stretch and drop back again, without renegotiating anything. If a lesson has to move, it moves. Send the quote form on this page and an account manager will confirm the exact hourly rate for the subject and year level before a lesson is booked.

From Kindergarten to Year 12, what can we book a Newcastle tutor for?
plusminus

Kindergarten to Year 12, and the spread of subjects a Newcastle school actually teaches. Primary students mostly come for reading, writing and number. Through Years 7 to 10 it is usually maths and English, with science close behind. In Years 11 and 12 the list widens to the sciences, the humanities, business and legal subjects and languages, and lessons follow the student's own HSC courses. One tutor can carry one subject, or a student can hold two tutors for two subjects, billed the same way.

Do lessons happen in person somewhere in Newcastle?
plusminus

No. Every lesson runs online, over video with a shared whiteboard the tutor and student both write on. Nobody drives to Merewether or Wallsend at six in the evening, and a lesson is not lost to a wet drive across town or a missed bus. What replaces the local tutor is a closer match: the tutor is picked for the student's actual course and NSW syllabus stage rather than for living nearby. A parent can sit in on any lesson, which is easier when it is happening at the kitchen table.

Do you tutor students at public and independent schools in Newcastle and the Hunter?
plusminus

Students from schools such as Merewether High School at Broadmeadow, Newcastle High School at Hamilton South, Warners Bay High School in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle Grammar School in the city and Hunter Valley Grammar School at Ashtonfield work with Tutero tutors. There is no partnership with any of them: the tutor simply follows the course and the assessment schedule that school is running. Senior study at these schools leads to the HSC, or to the International Baccalaureate Diploma at the ones that offer it, and Tutero matches tutors for both.

What happens if the first tutor is not the right fit?
plusminus

Say so, and it changes. Matching is a person's job at Tutero rather than an algorithm's: an account manager takes the subject, the year level, the syllabus stage and the way the student likes to be taught, then puts forward a tutor who teaches that course. If the first pairing does not click, tell the account manager and a different tutor is arranged at no extra charge. Nothing is locked in, so a swap costs a conversation instead of a cancellation fee. Most Newcastle students stay with the tutor they start with, but the door is open either way.

What does the first week look like for a new Newcastle student?
plusminus

Start with the quote form on this page: year level, subjects, and what needs to change. An account manager calls, usually inside a day, and asks about the school, the marks so far and what the student wants out of it. They come back with a tutor and a lesson time that fits around school, sport and shift work. The first lesson is a working one rather than an interview: the tutor opens on the topic the student is stuck on. Lessons then run weekly at the same time unless you say otherwise.
