The Origin Story
Two brothers. Two very different experiences at school.
One brother struggled with math. One brother excelled at it.
Joey had gaps - not because he wasn’t capable, but because if a student misses a foundational concept in math, the education system rarely slows down to allow them to catch up.
After school, Sonny became a math tutor. In that role, he identified a recurring pattern: students’ progress was being held back by invisible gaps.
His students weren’t “bad at math”. They simply needed a structured, personalized learning program that repaired these missing capabilities.
The two brothers kept returning to the same set of questions:
What if software could help educators identify gaps instantly?
What if teaching could be structured, data-driven, and scalable?
What if every student had a clear, personalized learning pathway?
Then, in 2021, Richard joined the team. Richard brought the engineering capability needed to turn Joey and Sonny’s ideas into scalable infrastructure.

Together, the three co-founders built the foundations of what would become Tutero.
They spent a year building the business – relentlessly applying themselves to product work, building software that genuinely supports tutors and teachers.
Tutero launched at the start of 2022 and has been scaling quickly ever since.
