Kumon is one of the best-known after-school programs in the country, yet its national website does not list a price. That makes "how much is Kumon?" harder to answer than it should be. This guide shows what Kumon says about its fees, what individual Kumon centers actually list on kumon.com, how the cost adds up for two subjects or a full year, and how it compares with 1-on-1 tutoring.
Tutero is an online tutoring provider.[1] This guide reflects publicly available information as at October 2026; prices and programs can change or vary by location.
Quick answer: how much does Kumon cost?
Kumon does not publish a national price. Its FAQ says tuition varies by location and is typically charged monthly, per subject.[2] On the Kumon center pages we checked on 3 October 2026, tuition ranged from $130 to $220 per subject per month, with a one-time registration fee of $50 to $80.[3][4][5] One of those centers also listed a $30 materials fee.[4] Other centers list no prices and ask you to contact them.[6]
Key takeaways
- Billing: monthly, per subject. Math and reading together cost twice the single-subject fee.[2]
- Examples: $130 (College Station, TX), $195 (Las Vegas, NV) and $220 (Burbank, CA) per subject per month.[3][4][5]
- Extras: a registration fee at every center that listed prices; Kumon says additional fees may apply.[3][7]
- No charge: the placement test is free, and Kumon Connect costs the same as paper worksheets.[8][9]

What does Kumon say about its fees?
Kumon's US FAQ answers the question "How much does Kumon cost per month?" this way: tuition varies by location, with a monthly tuition fee typically charged per subject, and families should contact their local Kumon center for specific pricing.[2] The reason prices vary is that most Kumon centers are independently owned and operated. Kumon's center pages say so directly, and add that "additional fees may apply".[7]
So there is no single Kumon price. There is a price at your nearest center, and the only way to know it for sure is to ask that center, or check whether its page on kumon.com lists one.
What do Kumon centers charge per month?
At the Kumon centers we checked that list prices, tuition was $130, $195 or $220 per subject per month, plus a $50 to $80 registration fee.[3][4][5] Other center pages list no prices. These are the five centers we checked on 3 October 2026:
| Kumon center | Monthly tuition | One-time and other fees |
|---|---|---|
| College Station, TX | $130 per subject[3] | $50 registration[3] |
| Las Vegas (Mountains Edge), NV | $195 per subject[4] | $80 registration; $30 materials fee[4] |
| Burbank (South), CA | $220 per subject[5] | $80 registration[5] |
| Carle Place, NY | Not listed; contact the center[6] | Not listed |
| West San Jose, CA | Not listed; contact the center[10] | Not listed |
These are examples, not a national average. Only three of the five centers list prices, which is a small sample, and we have not used third-party price estimates because they are not Kumon's own figures. Treat the range as a guide to the questions to ask, not a quote.
How much is Kumon for two subjects, two children or a full year?
Math and reading together cost $260 to $440 a month at the centers above, and one subject for a year costs $1,560 to $2,640 plus registration.[3][5] Because Kumon charges per subject, the cost multiplies quickly:
| Scenario | At $130 per subject (College Station) | At $220 per subject (Burbank - South) |
|---|---|---|
| One subject, one month | $130 | $220 |
| Math and reading, one month | $260 | $440 |
| One subject for 12 months | $1,560, plus a $50 registration fee | $2,640, plus an $80 registration fee |
| Math and reading for 12 months | $3,120, plus registration | $5,280, plus registration |
We found no sibling or multi-subject discount on the Kumon pages we checked. If you are enrolling two children or two subjects, ask your center whether it offers one before you sign up.
What is included in Kumon tuition?
Kumon does not publish a national list of what tuition includes, but its pages describe how the program runs:
- A free placement test before you start, which sets your child's starting level.[8]
- Center visits: two days a week at the center, with the other five days of assignments done at home.[8]
- Daily worksheets that typically take under 30 minutes per subject.[2]
- Kumon Connect, the digital version, at the same price as paper worksheets. You supply the tablet and stylus, and not every center offers it.[9]
- Virtual classes at some centers, where children complete worksheets at home while center staff observe by videoconference.[11]
Before you enroll, ask your center five questions that Kumon's national pages do not answer:
- What is the monthly tuition per subject, and is there a registration or materials fee?
- Is there a discount for a second subject or a second child?
- How much notice do I need to give to stop, and is any fee refundable?
- Are fees charged during holiday closures?
- Do you offer Kumon Connect or virtual classes, and at what times?

How does Kumon's cost compare with Mathnasium and 1-on-1 tutoring?
Each option buys something different, so compare what you get for the money, not only the monthly figure.
| Option | Published price and fees | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Kumon | Varies by center; examples $130 to $220 per subject per month, plus a registration fee[2][3][5] | Daily worksheets in math or reading, center twice a week; monthly billing[2][8] |
| Mathnasium | Varies by center; examples $449 to $579 per month, plus a $199 enrollment fee[12][13] | Math sessions at a center or online, two to three times a week; monthly membership[12][13] |
| Tutero (1-on-1 online) | From US$45 an hour, charged after each lesson[1][14] | A live lesson with one tutor, built on school work; math, English, science and more; no contracts[1] |
A weekly one-hour lesson with Tutero starts from US$180 for four weeks.[14] That is more than one Kumon subject at the centers above, and less than the Mathnasium memberships we found. The difference is the format: a tutor working one-on-one on your child's own school topics, compared with a structured worksheet program. See how 1-on-1 online tutoring with Tutero works. For a full comparison of the two brands, see Mathnasium vs Kumon.
When is Kumon good value?
In our view, Kumon is good value when your child needs regular practice to build speed and accuracy in the basics, and your family can support a short session every day. It is less likely to be good value when the goal is a test in a few weeks. Kumon itself says to consider a tutor if time is limited, because the program isn't tailored to any specific exam.[15]
If your child needs help with this term's math, a 1-on-1 tutor may get there faster. A Tutero tutor uses diagnostic tools to find the gaps first, then plans lessons around them.[1] See online math tutoring with Tutero or Tutero's US pricing.

What else do parents ask about Kumon fees?
Registration, materials, siblings and more, answered briefly. To compare Kumon with Mathnasium on method as well as price, see Mathnasium vs Kumon.
There is no single Kumon price. There is a price at your nearest center, charged per subject, every month.
Ask about registration, materials, second-subject and notice rules before you enroll, not after.
Kumon does not publish a national price; its FAQ says tuition varies by location and is typically charged monthly per subject.[2] Center pages we checked on 3 October 2026 listed $130, $195 and $220 per subject per month.[3][4][5] Ask your local center for its current price.
At the centers that list prices, yes. We saw a $50 registration fee per student in College Station, Texas, and $80 in Las Vegas and Burbank.[3][4][5] Other centers ask you to contact them about one-time registration fees.[6]
Yes. Kumon says the monthly tuition fee is typically charged per subject, so math and reading together cost twice the single-subject fee.[2] At $130 per subject, two subjects are $260 a month.[3]
Some centers do. One of the three centers we found with prices listed a $30 materials fee; the other two listed none.[3][4][5] Kumon's center pages also say additional fees may apply, so ask your center for the full list.[7]
No. Kumon says digital worksheets through Kumon Connect are the same price as paper worksheets. You need to supply a tablet and a compatible stylus, and not every center offers it.[9]
We found no sibling or multi-subject discount on the Kumon pages we checked. Because most Kumon centers are independently owned and operated, policies can differ, so ask your local center directly.[7]
