Emma was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia when she was young, and more recently with ADHD. Her mom, Jill, chose Tutero because she read that we were equipped to support children with ADHD. Emma works with the same teacher, Lori, every week. Over time they have built a real bond: with Lori, Emma is focused, gets the encouragement she needs, and never asks to skip a lesson. Lori is part of Emma’s week, not a quick fix, and Jill sees the results.
“She really likes Lori, they’ve formed a bond.”
Jill, Emma’s mom
“She never says she doesn’t want tutoring, she always wants to.”

Jill, mom of Emma · FloridaOur Florida team includes a former special education teacher and case manager of 14 years and a former school principal. They walk you through EMA, match your child with the right teacher and check in every term. Here they are at Step Up for Students’ conference in Orlando.

If it is UA or PEP, yes. Families on UA or PEP pay $0 out of pocket, with nothing to pay upfront. Not sure which scholarship your child has? It is shown at the top of their EMA account.
Their teacher gets to know them. One hour, 1-on-1, working on what your child is learning right now. The teacher sees what is solid and where the gaps are, with any IEP goals in mind. Afterwards you get a written report and a plan in the parent app.
No. You tell us once. Share the IEP on your first call and its goals and accommodations go into the plan before lesson one. Your child keeps the same teacher every week, so nobody has to start over.
Straight answers from 310,000+ lessons.

Usually a gap, not ability. Most subjects build on themselves: a gap in fractions in 5th grade becomes an algebra problem in 8th grade. Most students who say they hate a subject are missing two or three specific ideas. The first lesson finds them.
A diagnosis, then a plan. One hour, 1-on-1, working through what your child is learning right now. The tutor watches how they approach a problem and maps what is solid and what is not. Afterwards a written report and a plan land in the parent app.
Confidence first, grades next. Most parents see confidence change first, then grades at the next test or report card. One lesson a week through the semester, with a check-in from your account manager.

When should my teen start SAT prep in Kendall?
A few months before the test date is a sensible rule, so there's time to practice without cramming. Your teen's certified teacher starts with a practice check on the digital SAT, then focuses on the Reading and Writing or Math questions that cost the most points. Kendall students can book evenings and weekends around school.
Do you cover West Kendall?
Yes. Lessons are live online, so families in West Kendall, Kendall and the rest of Miami-Dade have the same choice of teachers and times. Your child joins from home and meets the same certified teacher every week. There's no travel, and no need to plan around traffic on the way home from school.
Can Step Up for Students pay for SAT lessons?
If your child has a UA or PEP scholarship, yes. Those scholarships cover our lessons, including SAT prep. FES-EO and FTC are mostly used for private school tuition, and we can check what your account allows.
Can my child get help with Algebra 1?
Yes. Algebra 1 comes with an end-of-year state exam in Florida, and plenty of students need support through the year to be ready for it. The teacher works on current classwork each week and adds review as the exam gets closer. If earlier gaps are holding your child back, they'll fill those first.
Do you teach children with IEPs?
Yes. The teacher reads your child's IEP and uses the same accommodations in lessons. It's 1-on-1, so the pace fits your child, not a class of thirty. Students with unique abilities can use a Step Up for Students UA scholarship to cover lessons, and you'll get written notes after each one in the parent app.
How will I know if lessons are helping?
The written report after every lesson tells you what was covered and how your child did. Each term, your education specialist looks at progress with you and suggests changes if something isn't working. There's no contract holding you in.
A lot of Kendall parents come to us with a high schooler and a deadline. It might be the SAT, an end-of-year Algebra 1 exam, or a grade that needs to come up before report cards. We pair your teen with a certified teacher who plans around their Miami-Dade County Public Schools classes and the date that matters. The same teacher works with them every week, so prep builds instead of starting over.
Younger children get the same model at a gentler pace. A skills check shows the gaps, and lessons focus on reading or math at the level your child is ready for. Families in West Kendall and across the area join from home, which means no afternoon drive. After each lesson, the teacher writes a short report in the parent app. Homeschool families can plan lessons around their own curriculum.
Schools in Kendall teach to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. Every Tutero lesson follows these standards and your child's own school or homeschool work, so practice for the state tests below is built into the regular week.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools serves Kendall. The area's first public school, Kendall School, is now Kenwood K-8 Center. High school options include Miami Killian, Miami Sunset, Miami Southwest and Felix Varela Senior High, plus the School for Advanced Studies Kendall campus, and Miami Palmetto High School in Pinecrest serves part of the area. Public school students take the FAST in reading and math and end-of-year course exams.
Miami Dade College has a Kendall Campus, and Keiser University and the College of Business and Technology have Kendall campuses too. For Kendall high schoolers, SAT scores and college-level work come up early. Tutero lessons follow your child's class materials, whether that is a fifth-grade reading unit or senior-year math, and keep each test in view.
Kendall is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in Miami-Dade County. Families in Kendall, West Kendall and neighboring Pinecrest each have their own schools and routines, and plenty of them search for help close to home. Tutero lessons are live online, so every Kendall home has the same teachers to choose from. Families in Doral, Homestead and Miami book the same way. Lessons run after school, into the evening and on weekends, with one teacher who stays with your child all year.
