What does Indiana homeschool law require, and how does Tutero fit in?
Indiana treats homeschools as non-public schools. The three core obligations are: instruct in English, provide an education equivalent to a public school, and run at least 180 instructional days per year with attendance records kept by the parent. There is no requirement to register with the state, submit curriculum, or sit ILEARN, though many families do register voluntarily with the Indiana Department of Education. Tutero sessions count toward your instructional time when the tutor is teaching your child, and your tutor can log session notes you can keep alongside your attendance record. We follow your curriculum if you have one, or build one with you if you don't. Tutoring complements your homeschool, it does not replace your role as the primary educator.
Does Tutero support Indiana ESA and Choice Scholarship families?
Yes. Indiana's Education Scholarship Account (ESA) program supports students with an IEP or Section 504 plan, and allowable expenses include tutoring, curriculum and therapies, which makes Tutero a natural fit for ESA families.
