center 32%The vocabulary arrives fast. From Sec 1, science turns into a new language: particles, cells, variables, forces. A student who misses one word early loses every explanation built on it. Practicals then add a second skill, planning and writing up a fair test, that many students are never walked through step by step.
Their current unit, explained back. The tutor opens the unit the class is on now, such as chemical change or the solar system, and asks the student to explain it in their own words. Where the explanation breaks down is where the lessons start. A written report with the gaps and the next steps lands in the parent app that evening.
Usually at the next unit test. School science runs in topics, and each one ends in a class test, a practical or a weighted assessment. Weekly lessons through a topic give the ideas time to settle before that assessment. Confidence tends to come first.

Private 1-to-1 science tuition with Tutero is from S$65 an hour, and the rate is the same from primary science to Sec 4 and for Biology, Chemistry and Physics at JC. You pay after each lesson. There is no contract to sign and no sign-up fee.
The hourly rate covers the tutor, a written report in the parent app after every lesson and a dedicated account manager.
Tutors follow the MOE science syllabus and the student's own school programme. Primary science is built around five themes, diversity, cycles, systems, energy and interactions, plus inquiry skills such as planning a fair test, recording data and drawing a conclusion.
In primary school that means diversity, cycles, systems, energy and interactions, building to PSLE Science. From Sec 1 to Sec 4 it moves to cells and body systems, the particle model, chemical reactions, energy, genetics and motion, along with the practicals and tests schools set.
Lessons are live and 1-to-1 on an interactive whiteboard, so the tutor can draw a cell, balance an equation or sketch a circuit while the student talks through their thinking. The student keeps the same tutor each week, and that tutor works from the unit the class is on.
Experiments stay at school. Tuition is where students go back over what the experiment showed, how to answer open-ended questions, and what the topic test will ask.
You answer a short quiz, then an account manager calls to learn your child's level, school, current science topic and what is getting in the way. The tutor is carefully selected for subject strength and personality fit.
Lesson one works through the unit the class is on and finds where understanding stops. If the tutor is not the right fit, changing to a new one is free and the account manager arranges it.
Yes. Tutors prepare students for class tests, weighted assessments, practicals and open-ended questions, working from what the school has set. They also prepare students for PSLE Science and SEC and O-Level Science, with practice questions and a revision plan.
Tutero's science tutors are Singapore-based university students and graduates who did well in their own sciences, alongside qualified teachers. Each is carefully selected and completes training before their first lesson.
Each tutor's profile on the Our Tutors page lists their subjects, university and results, so you can see who will be teaching your child before lessons begin.
Anywhere in Singapore with an internet connection. Every student has the same choice of science tutors, wherever they live, with lessons after school, in the evening and on weekends.
From upper secondary, science splits into separate subjects. Tutero has dedicated pages for Biology, Chemistry and Physics tuition, covering the SEC and O-Level, A-Level, IGCSE and the IB.
Send a request with your child's level and the science topic they are working on. An account manager will call you, then match your child with a tutor for their syllabus and goals.
You pay after each lesson, there are no contracts, and you can stop any time.
