Emma was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia when she was young, and more recently with ADHD. Her mom, Jill, chose Tutero because she read that we were equipped to support children with ADHD. Emma works with the same teacher, Lori, every week. Over time they have built a real bond: with Lori, Emma is focused, gets the encouragement she needs, and never asks to skip a lesson. Lori is part of Emma’s week, not a quick fix, and Jill sees the results.
“She really likes Lori, they’ve formed a bond.”
Jill, Emma’s mom
“She never says she doesn’t want tutoring, she always wants to.”

Jill, mom of Emma · FloridaOur Florida team includes a former special education teacher and case manager of 14 years and a former school principal. They walk you through EMA, match your child with the right teacher and check in every term. Here they are at Step Up for Students’ conference in Orlando.

If it is UA or PEP, yes. Families on UA or PEP pay $0 out of pocket, with nothing to pay upfront. Not sure which scholarship your child has? It is shown at the top of their EMA account.
Their teacher gets to know them. One hour, 1-on-1, working on what your child is learning right now. The teacher sees what is solid and where the gaps are, with any IEP goals in mind. Afterwards you get a written report and a plan in the parent app.
No. You tell us once. Share the IEP on your first call and its goals and accommodations go into the plan before lesson one. Your child keeps the same teacher every week, so nobody has to start over.
Straight answers from 310,000+ lessons.

Usually a gap, not ability. Most subjects build on themselves: a gap in fractions in 5th grade becomes an algebra problem in 8th grade. Most students who say they hate a subject are missing two or three specific ideas. The first lesson finds them.
A diagnosis, then a plan. One hour, 1-on-1, working through what your child is learning right now. The tutor watches how they approach a problem and maps what is solid and what is not. Afterwards a written report and a plan land in the parent app.
Confidence first, grades next. Most parents see confidence change first, then grades at the next test or report card. One lesson a week through the semester, with a check-in from your account manager.

What times are lessons available in Miramar?
Lessons run on weekday afternoons, weekday evenings and weekends. You choose a regular weekly slot when you book, and your child keeps the same teacher at that time. Miramar families can pick an evening slot after dinner or a weekend morning. If your schedule changes, your education specialist can move the time.
Do I need to be home during the lesson?
No, you don't need to sit in, though you're welcome to. Younger children may need a parent nearby to get set up at the start. After the lesson, the teacher's written report arrives in the parent app, so you can catch up on what was covered even if you were still at work.
How is Tutero paid for with Step Up for Students?
The scholarship pays Tutero directly, and you pay nothing out of pocket. UA and PEP scholarships both cover lessons. FES-EO and FTC funds are mostly used for private school tuition, so our team will check your account first.
How many lessons a week does my child need?
One lesson a week is a good starting point for most children. Students with a big gap, an IEP or a test coming up may do two. Your education specialist suggests a plan after the skills check and reviews it each term, so you can add or drop lessons as needs change. There are no contracts.
Can siblings in Miramar have lessons with Tutero?
Yes, each child gets their own teacher and their own plan. Brothers and sisters can have lessons back to back so the evening stays simple. Each plan starts with its own skills check, each child's Step Up for Students scholarship covers their own lessons, and you'll see a separate report for each child.
Which subjects can my child get help with?
Every core K-12 subject. That includes math from counting to calculus, reading and writing, science, and test prep such as the SAT, ACT and AP exams. Students can focus on one subject or split time between two, and the teacher adjusts the balance as grades and needs change through the year.
Miramar is the fourth-largest city in Broward County, a southern suburb with around 135,000 residents. Between work, commutes and after-school activities, many families here can't fit a drive to a tutoring center into the week. So the lesson comes to your home instead. Your child logs in, meets the same certified teacher, and gets straight to work.
The teacher plans each lesson from what's happening in your child's Broward County Public Schools classes: this week's math homework, a reading log, a science test on Friday. Ahead of Florida's state tests (FAST), lessons shift toward practice and review. If you homeschool, the plan follows your own curriculum instead. You'll read a short report after each lesson, so even on a busy day you know exactly how it went. Your education specialist also checks in each term to make sure the plan still fits your family's week.
Schools in Miramar teach to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. Every Tutero lesson follows these standards and your child's own school or homeschool work, so practice for the state tests below is built into the regular week.
Miramar's public schools are part of Broward County Public Schools, and they include Everglades High School and Miramar High School. Students across the district take the FAST, Florida's statewide reading and math tests, and middle and high schoolers also sit end-of-year course exams.
Miramar has several college campuses of its own: Broward College at Miramar Town Center, Florida International University's Miramar West Center, Nova Southeastern University's Miramar Campus and a University of Florida MBA campus. For Miramar high schoolers, college is never far away. Tutero lessons work from your child's own Broward classwork and build the skills that the FAST and course exams check, one week at a time, so nothing piles up before a test.
Miramar is a city in southern Broward County, the 14th-largest in Florida and the sixth-largest in the Miami metro area. Families here live close to Pembroke Pines, Cooper City, Weston and Miami Lakes. Tutero lessons are held live online, so a student anywhere in Miramar picks from the same group of teachers as one in Hialeah or North Miami. Lesson times cover weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends, and each child keeps one teacher who gets to know how they think and learn.
