Emma was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia when she was young, and more recently with ADHD. Her mom, Jill, chose Tutero because she read that we were equipped to support children with ADHD. Emma works with the same teacher, Lori, every week. Over time they have built a real bond: with Lori, Emma is focused, gets the encouragement she needs, and never asks to skip a lesson. Lori is part of Emma’s week, not a quick fix, and Jill sees the results.
“She really likes Lori, they’ve formed a bond.”
Jill, Emma’s mom
“She never says she doesn’t want tutoring, she always wants to.”

Jill, mom of Emma · FloridaOur Florida team includes a former special education teacher and case manager of 14 years and a former school principal. They walk you through EMA, match your child with the right teacher and check in every term. Here they are at Step Up for Students’ conference in Orlando.

If it is UA or PEP, yes. Families on UA or PEP pay $0 out of pocket, with nothing to pay upfront. Not sure which scholarship your child has? It is shown at the top of their EMA account.
Their teacher gets to know them. One hour, 1-on-1, working on what your child is learning right now. The teacher sees what is solid and where the gaps are, with any IEP goals in mind. Afterwards you get a written report and a plan in the parent app.
No. You tell us once. Share the IEP on your first call and its goals and accommodations go into the plan before lesson one. Your child keeps the same teacher every week, so nobody has to start over.
Straight answers from 310,000+ lessons.

Usually a gap, not ability. Most subjects build on themselves: a gap in fractions in 5th grade becomes an algebra problem in 8th grade. Most students who say they hate a subject are missing two or three specific ideas. The first lesson finds them.
A diagnosis, then a plan. One hour, 1-on-1, working through what your child is learning right now. The tutor watches how they approach a problem and maps what is solid and what is not. Afterwards a written report and a plan land in the parent app.
Confidence first, grades next. Most parents see confidence change first, then grades at the next test or report card. One lesson a week through the semester, with a check-in from your account manager.

My child's grades dropped. How fast can tutoring in Plant City help?
It depends on the cause, but you'll see what's being fixed from the very first report. The first lesson finds the gap, and each report after that shows which skills are improving. Grades follow as quizzes and tests catch up. Your education specialist reviews progress with you at the end of each term.
Can lessons start in the middle of the school year?
Yes, you can start any week of the year. The teacher catches up on what the class has covered so far, finds what didn't stick, and works on that alongside current homework. There's no term fee or contract, so you're never locked in, and Plant City families can pause when they need to.
Does the teacher help with homework?
Yes, current homework is often part of a lesson, but it isn't the whole lesson. The teacher uses it to spot what your child doesn't understand, then teaches the skill behind it. That way the help lasts past tonight's assignment, and longer-term goals from the skills check stay in the plan too.
Will Step Up for Students pay for tutoring in Plant City?
Yes, if your child has a Step Up for Students UA or PEP scholarship. The scholarship covers each lesson, so there's nothing out of pocket. For other scholarships, which are mostly used for private school tuition, our team will check your account.
My child's essays keep getting marked down. Can you help?
Yes, writing improves quickly with one-on-one feedback. The teacher works on one thing at a time: a clear topic sentence, evidence that supports it, then organizing a full essay. Lessons use your child's real assignments and their teacher's comments, so the next essay shows the change.
Can homeschool students or students with IEPs join?
Yes, both. Homeschool students get lessons built on their curriculum, and a Step Up for Students PEP scholarship can cover them. Students with an IEP get lessons shaped around its goals and accommodations, and a UA scholarship can cover those. Either way, it's the same certified teacher every week.
Plant City sits along I-4 between Brandon and Lakeland, a Hillsborough County city of about 40,000 in the Tampa Bay area. A disappointing report card or a low FAST score can land at any point in the year. The good news is that a slip usually has a specific cause, and a specific cause can be fixed.
Your child's certified teacher starts by finding it. The skills check, recent tests and a look at Hillsborough County Public Schools assignments show whether the trouble is a missing skill, a study habit or simply falling behind on work. Then lessons fix that first. Reports after each lesson let you watch the turnaround, and your education specialist checks in each term. Because it's online, there's no drive to Brandon or Lakeland; lessons happen at home, at a time that suits your family.
Schools in Plant City teach to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. Every Tutero lesson follows these standards and your child's own school or homeschool work, so practice for the state tests below is built into the regular week.
Hillsborough County Public Schools runs every public school in Plant City. Middle schoolers attend Marshall, Tomlin or Turkey Creek, and high schoolers go to Plant City High, Durant High or Strawberry Crest High in nearby Dover. Families also have private choices such as Faith Christian Academy and Plant City Christian Academy.
In public school, students take FAST, Florida's reading and math tests, and end-of-year exams in high school courses. Your child's teacher keeps pace with what the class is covering, lines it up with Florida's standards, and gets your child ready for those exams. Older Plant City students aiming for college or a career program can use lessons to firm up algebra, writing and science.
Plant City is known as the winter strawberry capital of the world, and the Florida Strawberry Festival fills the calendar late each winter. Busy seasons like that are easier when lessons come to you. Every lesson is live online, so families across Plant City have the same choice of teachers. Families in Lakeland, Riverview and Tampa do too. Pick weekday, evening or weekend times that suit the week. Your child keeps one teacher all year, so lessons pick up right where the last one stopped, even after festival week.
