Emma was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia when she was young, and more recently with ADHD. Her mom, Jill, chose Tutero because she read that we were equipped to support children with ADHD. Emma works with the same teacher, Lori, every week. Over time they have built a real bond: with Lori, Emma is focused, gets the encouragement she needs, and never asks to skip a lesson. Lori is part of Emma’s week, not a quick fix, and Jill sees the results.
“She really likes Lori, they’ve formed a bond.”
Jill, Emma’s mom
“She never says she doesn’t want tutoring, she always wants to.”

Jill, mom of Emma · FloridaOur Florida team includes a former special education teacher and case manager of 14 years and a former school principal. They walk you through EMA, match your child with the right teacher and check in every term. Here they are at Step Up for Students’ conference in Orlando.

If it is UA or PEP, yes. Families on UA or PEP pay $0 out of pocket, with nothing to pay upfront. Not sure which scholarship your child has? It is shown at the top of their EMA account.
Their teacher gets to know them. One hour, 1-on-1, working on what your child is learning right now. The teacher sees what is solid and where the gaps are, with any IEP goals in mind. Afterwards you get a written report and a plan in the parent app.
No. You tell us once. Share the IEP on your first call and its goals and accommodations go into the plan before lesson one. Your child keeps the same teacher every week, so nobody has to start over.
Straight answers from 310,000+ lessons.

Usually a gap, not ability. Most subjects build on themselves: a gap in fractions in 5th grade becomes an algebra problem in 8th grade. Most students who say they hate a subject are missing two or three specific ideas. The first lesson finds them.
A diagnosis, then a plan. One hour, 1-on-1, working through what your child is learning right now. The tutor watches how they approach a problem and maps what is solid and what is not. Afterwards a written report and a plan land in the parent app.
Confidence first, grades next. Most parents see confidence change first, then grades at the next test or report card. One lesson a week through the semester, with a check-in from your account manager.

Can I get a math teacher for my child in Riverview?
Yes. Math is the subject Riverview parents ask us about most, and we match your child with a certified teacher who works on exactly the topics they're stuck on. That might be times tables in third grade or equations in Algebra 1. Before the first lesson, a short skills check shows where the gaps are, so no time is wasted re-teaching what your child already knows.
Does Step Up for Students cover tutoring for Riverview families?
Yes, if your child has a UA or PEP scholarship. Lessons are paid from the scholarship, so you pay nothing out of pocket. If your child has FES-EO or FTC, those are mostly used for private school tuition, and our team can check what your account allows.
How does online tutoring work if we live south of Brandon?
It works the same from any address, because every lesson is live online. Your child joins from a laptop or tablet at home and works face to face on screen with the same certified teacher each week. That gives families here the same choice of teachers and times as families anywhere else in Florida, with no drive through afternoon traffic.
Will the lessons match what my child is doing at school?
They will. Your child's teacher plans each lesson from their Hillsborough County Public Schools classwork, homework and upcoming tests. If a geometry unit test is two weeks away, that is what you'll see in the lesson reports. Closer to the end of the year, the focus can shift toward Florida's state tests in reading and math.
Can you help a Riverview student with an IEP?
Yes. The teacher reads your child's IEP before lesson one so the same accommodations carry over from school. Lessons move at your child's pace, with breaks and repetition where they help. For students with unique abilities, a Step Up for Students UA scholarship can cover every lesson, and you'll see how each one went in the parent app.
What does it cost if we don't have a scholarship?
You get one clear rate that applies to every grade, with no contracts and no sign-up fee. Our team shares it when you book, along with how lessons are scheduled. You can pause or stop whenever you need to, and if the teacher isn't the right fit, we'll find a better match.
Riverview has grown fast. The 2020 census counted 107,396 people, up from 71,050 ten years earlier, and plenty of those households south of Brandon have school-age kids. Most parents who contact us from here start with math. A child who was fine with fractions can hit a wall in middle school, and the gap widens every unit. We begin with a skills check, then build the plan from the homework your child actually brings home from Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Lessons are live and 1-on-1 with a certified teacher, and your child keeps that same teacher week after week. Because everything happens online, you're not driving up to Brandon after school. Pick a weekday afternoon, an evening or a weekend slot. After each lesson a short written report lands in the parent app, so you can see what was covered without asking your child to explain it over dinner. Homeschool families here use the same setup, planned around their own curriculum.
Schools in Riverview teach to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. Every Tutero lesson follows these standards and your child's own school or homeschool work, so practice for the state tests below is built into the regular week.
Hillsborough County Public Schools runs 15 K-12 public schools in Riverview. Younger children attend schools like Riverview Elementary, Sessums or Summerfield Crossings, then Giunta or Rodgers Middle, and on to Riverview, Spoto or Sumner High School. Some students go to schools in nearby Lithia and Gibsonton, and charter and private choices are common too.
Whatever the school, students take FAST, Florida's reading and math tests, and end-of-year exams in high school courses. HCC at The Regent, a Hillsborough Community College campus, is right in Riverview for teens thinking ahead. Lessons track the work your child brings home and Florida's standards, with steady practice for each of those tests.
Riverview is home to Bell Creek Nature Preserve, and many families here live close to Lithia and Gibsonton. Online lessons give every Riverview household the same choice of teachers, wherever they are in town. The same is true for families in Tampa, Plant City and Carrollwood. Lessons are live with a real teacher at weekday, evening or weekend times, so busy households can pick a slot that sticks. Keeping the same teacher each week means your child never has to start from scratch.
