Emma was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia when she was young, and more recently with ADHD. Her mom, Jill, chose Tutero because she read that we were equipped to support children with ADHD. Emma works with the same teacher, Lori, every week. Over time they have built a real bond: with Lori, Emma is focused, gets the encouragement she needs, and never asks to skip a lesson. Lori is part of Emma’s week, not a quick fix, and Jill sees the results.
“She really likes Lori, they’ve formed a bond.”
Jill, Emma’s mom
“She never says she doesn’t want tutoring, she always wants to.”
Jill, May 2026
Jill, mom of Emma · FloridaOur Florida team includes a former special education teacher and case manager of 14 years and a former school principal. They walk you through EMA, match your child with the right teacher and check in every term. Here they are at Step Up for Students’ conference in Orlando.

If it is UA or PEP, yes. Families on UA or PEP pay $0 out of pocket, with nothing to pay upfront. Not sure which scholarship your child has? It is shown at the top of their EMA account.
Their teacher gets to know them. One hour, 1-on-1, working on what your child is learning right now. The teacher sees what is solid and where the gaps are, with any IEP goals in mind. Afterwards you get a written report and a plan in the parent app.
No. You tell us once. Share the IEP on your first call and its goals and accommodations go into the plan before lesson one. Your child keeps the same teacher every week, so nobody has to start over.
Straight answers from 310,000+ lessons.

Usually a gap, not ability. Most subjects build on themselves: a gap in fractions in 5th grade becomes an algebra problem in 8th grade. Most students who say they hate a subject are missing two or three specific ideas. The first lesson finds them.
A diagnosis, then a plan. One hour, 1-on-1, working through what your child is learning right now. The tutor watches how they approach a problem and maps what is solid and what is not. Afterwards a written report and a plan land in the parent app.
Confidence first, grades next. Most parents see confidence change first, then grades at the next test or report card. One lesson a week through the semester, with a check-in from your account manager.

What does a special education tutor do?
A special education tutor teaches children who learn differently, adjusting the pace, the way material is explained and the structure of each lesson to the child. At Tutero, that's a certified teacher experienced with your child's needs, working 1-on-1 on their own schoolwork and alongside any IEP or 504 plan. We don't describe our teachers as special-education certified.
How much does a learning disability tutor cost?
Tutero lessons start from US$45 an hour, the same rate at every grade and for every need. You pay after each lesson, with no contracts and no sign-up fee. Some families use scholarship or HSA funds to pay for lessons.
Does my child need a diagnosis for Learning Support?
No. Tell us what you're seeing and we match your child with a teacher experienced with those needs. If you'd like an evaluation, ask your child's school in writing. Tutoring can start while you wait.
Is tutoring good for an autistic child?
It can be, especially one-on-one with the same teacher each week, at home and online, where the routine is predictable. We match autistic children with teachers experienced with autism and tell the teacher how your child likes to work before the first lesson.
Can you work with my child's IEP or 504 plan?
Yes. Share the plan on your first call and your child's teacher works alongside it. Tutoring adds practice and one-on-one time; it doesn't replace what the school provides.
What if the teacher isn't the right fit?
Tell your account manager. They'll find another teacher using what they've learned about your child, so you don't have to explain everything again.
Written by a former special-education teacher on Tutero's Learning Support team.
Every Learning Support lesson is live, 1-on-1 and online with the same certified teacher each week, planned from your child's own schoolwork. What the hour focuses on depends on what's getting in the way.
Children with dyscalculia, dysgraphia, autism or a mix of needs are matched the same way, with a teacher who has experience with their needs. Many children have more than one, and one teacher can work on reading, math and organization together.
The short version, for parents comparing options.
It is teaching. Certified teachers working on reading, writing, math, study skills and the schoolwork in front of your child, at a pace that suits them.
It isn't diagnosis or therapy. Our teachers don't assess for learning disabilities or offer treatment. If you think your child needs an evaluation, ask their school in writing; public school evaluations are free. Tutoring can start while you wait.
It works alongside school. Lessons work alongside your child's IEP or 504 plan. They add practice and one-on-one time, and don't replace the support your child's school provides.
We're careful with labels. We describe our teachers as experienced with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and autism. We don't describe them as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson or special-education certified.
"My son has autism needing extra support and Tutero selected the perfect tutor for him."
Jackie, parent. Trustpilot review.
"My daughter has Tourette's syndrome and autism, so we needed tutors who were understanding and flexible. Our first tutor wasn't the right fit, but our coordinator Heath was amazing. He listened, took action and found the perfect match."
