Is Tutero a Step Up for Students approved provider?
Yes. Tutero is a Step Up for Students approved provider, which means your scholarship can pay for our 1-on-1 tutoring directly. Our main two scholarships are the Personalized Education Program (PEP) for homeschool families and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA) for families whose child has an IEP or diagnosed learning need. We also accept FES-EO. There is no out-of-pocket cost when your scholarship covers the lessons, and we handle the invoicing through the EMA portal so you do not have to chase paperwork. If you are not sure which scholarship your family qualifies for, we will walk you through it on your first call.
How do I pay for Tutero tutoring with my Step Up scholarship?
Once you choose Tutero, your dedicated education specialist sets you up as a Tutero family inside the Step Up EMA portal. We send the invoice for your lessons on the first day of class, you approve it from your parent dashboard, and Step Up releases the funds straight to Tutero. Nothing comes out of your bank account. If your scholarship has not landed yet, we can hold your tutor spot until your quarterly funds release (February, April, August or November) so you do not lose your match. The whole process usually takes under 10 minutes per term once you are set up.
What if my child has an IEP or a diagnosed learning difference?
This is what Tutero was built for. Most of our Florida families come to us through the FES-UA (Unique Abilities) scholarship because their child has dyslexia, ADHD, autism, a processing difference or another diagnosed need. Your tutor will read your child's IEP or evaluation before the first lesson, and your account manager — a former school principal or special education leader — stays involved every step of the way. Lessons are paced for your child, broken into short focused blocks where it helps, and built around what your child can do, not what they cannot. You will get a written summary after every lesson so you can see exactly what was covered.
What subjects and grade levels does Tutero cover in Florida?
We cover Kindergarten through 12th grade across math, reading and language arts, science, writing, social studies, and high school subjects including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Biology and US History. Tutoring is aligned to Florida Standards (the BEST Standards) so what your child does with us reinforces what Florida expects. We also support FAST prep for grades 3–10, SAT and ACT prep, and AP exam prep. If your homeschool curriculum uses a specific program — Saxon, Singapore Math, Sonlight, Abeka, BJU, IXL or anything else — your tutor will plan lessons that fit it rather than fighting it.
What does Tutero cost for a Florida Step Up family?
For most Florida families on Step Up, tutoring with Tutero is $0 out of pocket — your PEP or FES-UA scholarship covers the full cost of every lesson. Families on PEP receive around $8,000 per school year, and FES-UA families receive around $10,000 per school year, which typically funds weekly 1-on-1 tutoring across the school year with budget left over for curriculum and resources. There is no sign-up fee, no contract and no minimum commitment. You are billed after each lesson through the EMA portal, and you can pause or change tutors any time. If you want a written quote for your family's specific situation before you commit, your education specialist will send one over after the first call.

Most Florida families are matched with a tutor within 24 hours of their first call. We start by getting to know your child — their grade level, the subjects you want to focus on, their IEP or learning profile if relevant, the times of day they do their best work, and what your goals are for the school year. Then your education specialist hand-picks a certified tutor from our team who fits your child specifically. You meet the tutor first, and only book the first lesson if it feels right. Whether you are in Orange, Hillsborough, Broward, Miami-Dade, Duval, Pinellas or anywhere else in Florida, the lessons happen online so your child learns from home on their own schedule.
